About the Role
Anglicare Southern Queensland’s Rural & Remote Community Services are passionate and productive professionals working together to deliver a range of services that support the most vulnerable in our community. We currently have an opportunity for a Part Time Support Worker to join our team in Chinchilla and make a real contribution to our service and the outcomes we achieve in the community.
As a Support Worker with ASQ, you will be responsible for providing support to people living with cognitive, physical, or intellectual disability and assisting your clients to become linked with resources and supports in their local communities in order to meet their recreational, social, education and employment needs.
Working from an enabling perspective, you’ll support your clients through:
- Participating in individual client planning and reviews;
- Instructing, guiding, coaching, prompting, supervising, and in some instances physically assisting, clients to develop a wide range of skills including: personal development, personal presentation; and household management;
- Modeling appropriate behaviour and communication for a range of complex situations and circumstances;
- Communicating with accommodation providers about clients;
- Liaising with other service providers; and
- Accompanying clients to activities, appointments and events.
We’re looking for a skilled Support Worker with experience in disability and mental health care. You will hold a Certificate III in Disability Work (or equivalent), a current unrestricted Qld Driver’s Licence, have access to a reliable motor vehicle, senior first aid certificate (or ability to obtain), a current Positive Notice (Blue Card) for Child Related Employment and a current Positive Notice (Yellow Card) issued by Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, and be available to work flexible hours as well as sleepovers.
