Intensive Foster & Kinship Care Case Workers

About the Position

Anglicare’s Children and Families have a long history of providing family and children support services, including family intervention, foster and kinship care, counselling, relationship support and much more. Our Intensive Foster & Kinship Care Program provides children and young people with complex support needs, who are not able to live with their own family, the opportunity to live in a safe and nurturing family environment.

Our team in Logan are currently looking for two Intensive Foster & Kinship Care Case Workers to provide successful child-centred case management to ensure a high level of therapeutic support is provided to placements of children and young people who are referred by the Department of Communities. We have a full time permanent, and a full time fixed term role (14 months) available and strongly encourage people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage to apply.

 

About You

With a background in case management within the child, youth and families sector, you will be experienced in supporting Foster Carers, and your skills will include:

  • Providing direct care of children and young people in placement, including those who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • Active engagement in building relationships through interaction and activities
  • Applied knowledge and understanding of trauma and pain-based behaviours
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing complex and extreme needs of children; developing and implementing individual care plans
  • Previous experience working within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities
  • Enabling young people to have positive relationships with their families
  • Proven capability working both autonomously and as part of a team of professionals
  • Skilled in the use of computers and at an intermediate level with Microsoft Suite

Coupled with exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, some of your personal attributes will be:

  • The ability to respond appropriately and professionally in crisis situations
  • Exceptional communication skills with a focus on relating to children and youth
  • An energetic, compassionate manner with a true and genuine interest in helping children and young people
  • Capability to develop relationships based on acceptance, trust and respect
  • Problem-solving, decision-making and negotiation skills
  • Ability to offer mentoring and leadership to Foster Carers

Qualifications and documentation required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences or similar
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • A valid Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Current Licenced Care Service (LCS)
  • Previous experience in a Foster Care Program and a background within Indigenous Support is highly desirable
