About the Position

Anglicare’s INSYNC services support a variety of initiatives aimed at helping young homeless people to build happier and healthier lives off the streets. We understand that there an expansive range of factors that may contribute to a young person becoming homeless and that no situation is the same. Our services are focused on early intervention of those at the risk of homelessness, crisis accommodation and support and long term positive housing outcomes.

We are currently looking for a casual Youth Worker to join our dedicated and passionate team to cover both planned and unscheduled leave for both Nathanael House and INSYNC Beenleigh. Shifts may include days, overnights, weekends and public holidays.

INSYNC Youth Workers provide a safe and supportive environment within a residential setting and support to young people and their families who access INSYNC services and provide direct care of young people in placement with a wide range of responsibility for program activities, supervision and safety skills.

 

About You

Offering a successful background in Youth Support, your case management experience will be coupled with:

  • An understanding of child and youth development and behaviours, including the impacts of trauma, grief and loss
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people in a residential accommodation setting, specifically in crisis situations
  • Proven knowledge of working with youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless or are living in care
  • Robust understanding of the Child Protection Act 1999 would be highly advantageous
  • Use of strengths-based frameworks to facilitate goals and strategies which address the needs of clients

Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage young people are essential attributes to be successful in this role.  You will also need:

  • The ability to operate autonomously but seek advice and clarification as required
  • To be a positive and proactive team member who enjoys working alongside others to achieve success
  • A commitment to working with young people and their families, promoting safe, beneficial interactions and activities
  • Proven dedication to supporting young people with goals, competencies and development of life skills
  • Confidence in maintaining professional boundaries and ability to self-regulate during crisis situations
  • High level administrative skills for required referral and case plan programs

Along with practical, professional experience in the sector, you will hold:

  • A minimum Diploma of Human Services, however relevant degree level qualifications are preferred
  • Valid Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle
