About the Position
As one of Queensland’s most experienced community service providers, over the years our offering has evolved under different banners, and expanded greatly to include “all of life” services. Our range of supports is ever-increasing and are delivered in partnership with government and other organisations. To continue these essential services, Anglicare requires the support of a dedicated Corporate Services team, which incorporates Human Resources and we are currently looking for a full time Advisor - Safety & Injury Management to join our team in Brisbane’s CBD.
The role is responsible for the day to day case management for worker’s compensation claims and return to work plans, and will also provide assistance and support to managers and teams in the implementation of health, safety and wellbeing programs.
About You
With a background that includes exposure to injury management concepts and a genuine interest in supporting colleagues, your skills and capabilities will include:
- Knowledge of common law processes and workers compensation legislation
- Experience with back to work issues, guidelines and requirements
- An understanding of workplace health and safety principles and practice
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, site inspections and job safety analysis on-site
- A background in gap analysis and identifying training and education requirements
- Design and delivery of training programs and group facilitation
- Previous practical experience in case management within health or social service sectors
- Being part of a small team within a large multi-functional organisation
This busy, often transactional role requires balancing empathy and compassion with sometimes rigid legislative requirements and budget limitations. Our successful candidate will display the following attributes:
- An ability to relate effectively, and courteously with a range of people, from varying backgrounds and cultures
- Proactive, solutions-focused and results-driven with a highly self-managing attitude
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to liaise with external stakeholders including Workcover Queensland, Q-Comp, and health and legal professionals
- A ‘can-do’ attitude, resilience and common sense approach
- Ability to think ahead, prioritise effectively and plan accordingly - this is a role that requires a self-starter
- Strong time management, highly organised and able to manage a workload with multiple and ongoing deadlines
To be successful in this role you will be required to hold:
- Minimum of a Diploma in Work, Health & Safety, Workers Compensation, Return to Work or similar (or the equivalent practical experience)
- A National Police Certificate and a
- Current Queensland Driver Licence, and be willing to travel within the service region as required
