ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a suitably qualified, methodical, and technically proficient individual with exceptional time management skills and proven ability to adapt to the changes in the industry. You will be a registered Building Surveyor (preferably unrestricted), have extensive knowledge and experience across all building classes, and an outstanding track record in delivering exceptional service within a regulatory environment, whilst striving to make timely and innovative decisions for Council and our community. 

Our ideal candidate would be a motivated, customer-focused individual with a 'can-do' attitude and demonstrated experience negotiating positive outcomes with a diverse range of stakeholders who all have different needs and priorities. We are looking for an excellent communicator who can build strong relationships, both internal and external.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Senior Health and Building Surveyor for Cobar Shire Council, you will be responsible for:

  • Management at an operational level of Council's regulatory and compliance services with an emphasis on the continuous improvement of existing practices, policies and procedures to achieve efficiency, best practice, and to enhance the reputation of the department
  • Assessing, advising, determining, inspecting, and reporting on statutory applications within delegations
  • Providing timely and accurate technical advice to both internal and external customers
  • Leading with influence to ensure that Council’s core values are promoted in all business dealings to guarantee a positive customer experience for Council and the community

Whilst we are looking for a senior building surveyor we would consider applications from suitable graduate applicants. 

The remuneration will be negotiated with the successful candidate, dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience, with a salary range of $107,000 - $124,000 (plus superannuation) under Council's salary system, working a 9-day fortnight, 35 hours a week.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo pre employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
