ABOUT THE ROLE

The SANFL Umpiring Head Coach will deliver elite coaching standards to the State League Field and Talent Pathways Umpires Squads through high-quality football umpiring programs for SANFL and SANFLW Competitions.
The role is responsible for the coaching, development and selection of all Field Umpires and maintains close alignment with the National philosophy. Additionally, the role is also responsible for the direction and implementation of coaching programs from the SANFL Umpiring strategy and relevant reviews.
Key focus areas include:
- Umpiring Coaching Duties / State League and Pathways including introduction of AFL’s Umpire Smartabase system
- Pathway & Community / SANFL Juniors – ensuring pathways are clear and can sufficiently replenish SANFL lists, and education delivery
- Umpire Appointment Management - Lead the management and selection of field umpires in the SANFL and SANFLW competitions and Oversee preparation and performance in conjunction with state-based Goal and Boundary Umpire Coaches regarding the SANFL Goal and Boundary Umpires
- Work in close collaboration with other Umpiring stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure alignment and program objectives are met.

ABOUT YOU
You will be a dynamic and experienced coach with people development skills that deliver high quality coaching sessions and create optimal performing environments. You will have had previous exposure working in elite sporting programs, as well as demonstrated experience in developing athletes and improved outcomes.
We are looking for a Head Coach whose success is underpinned by the following:
- An approachable and accessible nature
- Ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Flexible approach to work hours as there are evening and weekend contact hours
- Strong alignment to SANFL values and team work
- All SANFL team members are required to hold a current DHS Working with Children Check
- Mental Health First Aid Accreditation (desirable).
- A well-developed understanding of safeguarding children and young people principles
