 ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Drive the delivery of Australia's largest junior sports competitions with over 13,000 participants
  • Work closely with community clubs
  • Based at the iconic Adelaide Oval

The Competitions Lead is responsible for the operations of the SANFL Juniors Competition The role will drive positive and safe environments through initiatives that focus on player and coach behaviour and growth, including entry level participation and girls competitions.

The role reports to the Competition and Pathways Manager and will support the work direction and development of two Competition Coordinators. The role will also work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external key stakeholders including SANFL Juniors Club Delegates, SANFL Juniors Football Committee, competition partners and the SANFL Game Development Team to achieve these objectives.

 Key focus areas include:

  • Competition operations including fixturing, grading, match day environments, behavior frameworks and a focus on growth in girls’ competitions.
  • Lead and maintain stakeholder management that supports proactive and effective relationships and communication with all community clubs.
  • Compliance and incident management ensuring competition integrity and safeguarding is optimised and compliant with the rules and regulations.
  • Work closely with volunteer workforces (clubs)

ABOUT YOU

You will be an experienced sports administrator with a highly developed understanding of competition and compliance management.  You will possess a detailed understanding of child safe environments, effective people leadership and skills to influence change.  Success in this role will be underpinned by your ability to build capacity in others, have a strong empathy for volunteer workforces and the following:

  • DHS Working With Children – Not prohibited status
  • Competition management and/or relevant sports administration experience
  • Experience in managing compliance and incident investigation/case management processes within a regulatory environment
  • Well-developed people leadership skills[KM1] 
  • Capacity to educate and upskill internal and external stakeholders on SANFL systems to improve access, usage and efficiencies
  • Highly developed understanding of safeguarding children & young people principles and practices
  • Robust attention to detail in own work, processes and decision making
