ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Sports industry administrative role
  • Contribute to delivery one of  Australia's largest junior sports competitions with over 13,000 participants
  • Building connection with community clubs 
  • Based at the iconic Adelaide Oval

An integral part of the Juniors Competition team that delivers Australia's largest junior sporting competition across club footy with over 13,000 participants.  The role will initially focus on supporting the delivery of the 2025 Finals Series and then focus on the preparation of the competition for the 2026 season.  The overall responsibilities will also include:

  • League and competition operations including fixturing, tribunal, and the administration of rules and regulations.
  • SANFL Juniors Club Development initiatives.
  • Incident investigation and conflict resolution
  • Ensure competition frameworks promote and support safeguarding of children and young people practices
  • Positive contribution to team and organisational culture with a Team First approach

The role will require some competition support weekend and evening availability throughout the football season and travel across metro Adelaide.

A BIT ABOUT YOU

You will be a dynamic and passionate sports administrator with a strong empathy for community sporting clubs and the challenges faced by their volunteers.  Your understanding of competition administration and stakeholder engagement processes will ensure our competitions successfully deliver SANFL's vision to welcome young players into the game loved by all South Australians.   Your success in the role will be underpinned by aligning successfully with the SANFL Values and the following background and skills:

 Qualifications

  • DHS Working with Children Check
  • Current South Australian Drivers Licence
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Sports Management or equivalent work experience

 

Essential Criteria

  • Competition administration experience
  • Experience in managing compliance and incident investigation/case management processes within a regulatory environment.
  • Highly developed understanding of safeguarding children & young people principles

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Event Management experience
  • Experience coordinating relationships with multiple stakeholders with conflicting interests.

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • An empathy and understanding of Australian football at various levels.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong sense of accountability
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Experience working with and coordinating volunteers.
  • Experience managing and resolving conflict.
  • Negotiation and people skills
  • Effective people management and leadership skills
  • Strong administration and planning skills

Footy, the game loved by all South Australians. Like you, we love footy and as the state peak body for Australian Football we are committed to it being the game loved by all South Australians. Our goal is to grow and develop our great game and provide opportunities for South Australians to get involved in the game whether it be as a player, administrator, coach, umpire, volunteer or supporter. The South Australian Football Commission is a nine-person board elected to govern football on behalf of SANFL Community Football and our eight SANFL member Clubs – Central District, Glenelg, North Adelaide, Norwood, South Adelaide, Sturt, West Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens.
