We are seeking a Livestock Leading Hand. As a vital front-line role, you’ll work hands-on with the very lifeblood of our business: our livestock and the staff who care for them.

Role Overview:

In this position, you’ll be responsible for leading the livestock team in this hands-on role through the daily handling and husbandry of all our livestock. You will be leading from the front with a “can do” attitude, good people skills and attention to detail.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Cattle Handling: Safely, confidently, and efficiently handle cattle using low-stress stock handling techniques.
  • Health Monitoring: Monitor animal health and wellbeing, tending to sick or injured animals.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with animal welfare practices, quality assurance, and workplace health and safety and complying with company policies, procedures and processes.
  • Induction: Induct cattle, administer medications, and ensure proper identification using visual and NLIS tags.
  • Maintenance: Assist with minor maintenance tasks and plant improvement initiatives.
  • Schedule: Daily and weekly planning to optimize workflow and meet production targets.
  • Training: Knowledge sharing and training staff, aiding in their development.

Your qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in livestock roles within the feedlot industry.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of compliance requirements related to animal welfare practices and safety.
  • Positive Attitude: A commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining quality standards.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively and foster a positive culture.
  • Cattle Handling: Excellent cattle and horsemanship skills, including mustering on horseback or motorbikes.
