The varied and complex work program of this role is directed by the key strategic and operational priorities and imperatives of the organisation and community.   As the primary operational point of contact for the General Manager, this position is accountable for exceptional organisational leadership and coordinating the office of the General Manager.  The Executive Manager is responsible for providing support and strategic advice as well as leading initiatives on behalf of the General Manager which may be specialised, confidential and complex in nature.   

This role is critical to our organisation’s success and will lead the functions of governance, IP&R, executive support, Councillor relationships, Council meetings, external advocacy, Resources for Regions program and other special projects as required. As a member of our Executive Leadership team, the Executive Manager will be required to work collaboratively with Councillors, the Leadership Team, across the organisation, with all external partners and our community. The role is critical in assisting the organisation to achieve our purpose of creating a vibrant, progressive, connected, resilient and sustainable Singleton..

This position is offered on a Full-time Permanent basis.  A generous remuneration package including car allowance and 10% superannuation is on offer for the right person.


Experienced as an executive advisor or senior leader, you are an exceptional communicator, have a high level of resilience and the ability to inspire and motivate others. Self-awareness, high levels of emotional maturity and a can-do attitude are essential to success in this role.

You have a demonstrated understanding of, and experience in applying high standards of governance, accountability, and performance in the local government sector.   You have proven leadership experience with the ability to apply contemporary and appropriate development approaches to manage, lead and sustain a high performing team whilst effectively influencing stakeholders at a senior level and within community.

Your experience working directly with elected officials in a politically sensitive environment along with your understanding of the complexities of local government will be key to your success in this role.

Experience in managing projects, competing priorities, diversity in focus areas and government relationships would support success in this role.

You are results driven, have strong leadership skills and will work to champion Council’s purpose, values and strategic direction. You are future-focused, proactively identifying opportunities and risks and acting decisively to adapt strategy and tactics.
