ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

The Coordinator Community Services oversees teams across Council’s Library, Youth and Children’s Services ensuring operations are compliant with legislative requirements. The role is responsible for ensuring Community Services provide an environment of lifelong learning, making available responsive services and resources that inform, educate, and enrich the lives of community members.

You will have tertiary qualifications in Information Studies, Early Childhood Education and Care, Community Services or other related discipline and relevant demonstrated experience.

Demonstrated experience in the following is a must:

  • Knowledge of Acts, Legislation and Regulations relating to public libraries, youth and children’s services.
  • Effective leadership and administration of a library, learning or community service provider.
  • Strong leadership skills, including problem solving, conflict resolution, negotiation and ability to manage and implement change.
  • Workforce planning, performance management and sound financial management skills

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading teams, ensuring effective and efficient achievement of Community Services objectives identified in the Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan.
  • Provide response and guidance regarding employee issues through line management, including workforce planning, rosters, training and development, recruitment, retention, and performance management.
  • Ensure effective delivery of services to provide a high level of customer satisfaction through the development and implementation of plans and policies, continuous improvement programs, and identifying and responding to changing community needs, industry initiatives and technological advancements.
  • Lead the team in developing and maintaining respectful, supportive, collaborative, and responsive relationships with the community and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Singleton Public Library, Singleton Youth Venue, Colleen Gale Children’s Centre, OOSH and Mobile Preschool in accordance with organisation policies and procedures.
  • Support the Manager in undertaking strategic planning, preparation and review of plans and strategies, preparing and reviewing relevant budgets.
  • Provide regular and timely reporting to the Manager of team activities, financial operations, staffing and statutory matters.
  • Optimise opportunities for grant and other funding sources.

This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 15 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $111,228 - $125,114 per annum plus superannuation.

A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required for this role.
