ADD VALUE - THE ROLE
The Trainee GIS Officer is part of the Land and Asset Management Systems Team, who together administer and provide support for Council’s property and asset management systems. The role works with spatial and non-spatial technologies and will assist the LAMS Team in performing a range of functions including, but not limited to, parcel registration, property addressing, road naming, asset mapping and map generation. The Trainee GIS Officer will have the opportunity to learn to use GIS software and systems, such as VertiGIS Studio and ArcGIS Pro.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in allocating urban and rural addresses to properties within the Singleton Local Government Area (LGA) in accordance with associated legislation, procedures and standards; and notify residents and/or agencies as appropriate
- Assist in extracting data from Councils spatial information systems and production of high-quality maps and reports.
- Assist in maintaining links to Registered Plans, Section 88B Instruments, Sewer Service Diagrams and other relevant documents in Council’s GIS system.
- Assist in georeferencing aerial imagery and other datasets for inclusion in Council’s GIS systems.
- Assist in maintaining Council’s core spatial data (Property/Assets/Planning) to ensure it is current, accurate, meets the requirements of the organisation and integrates with Council’s Land and Asset Management Systems.
This position is offered on a temporary basis (up to 2-year traineeship) working 35 hours per week. This traineeship opportunity will study a Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services.
Remuneration package for this position is based in accordance with the Local Government (state) Award in the range of $827.40 - $947.70 per week plus 12% superannuation and other award allowances.
