About the role 

Somerville has an opportunity for a full time Recruitment and Development Coordinator to join our team in Darwin. The Recruitment and Development Coordinator supports the organisation’s talent acquisition and workforce development priorities by coordinating recruitment activities and contributing to planning processes. This position is responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment processes, assisting with workforce planning, and fostering strong relationships across the organisation to ensure staffing needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively. The role also supports internal career development initiatives, contributes to employee growth activities, and assists with succession planning, while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, NDIS standards, and organisational policies. 

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding for various roles, from frontline to senior-level positions.
  • Proficiency in developing workforce plans by assessing staffing needs and implementing recruitment strategies to optimise resources and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Advanced relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with managers, employees, and external partners to support recruitment, workforce development, and succession planning.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to work effectively within a diverse workforce and engage respectfully with individuals from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels, provide clear advice, and uphold professionalism in all HR matters.
  • Demonstrated experience with HR and recruitment systems, as well as proficiency in Microsoft 365 for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Proven ability to prepare clear, engaging recruitment materials, including job advertisements, interview guides, and candidate assessment tools, tailored to diverse roles and audiences.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing HR records, compliance checks, and workforce reporting.
  • Advanced organisational skills with the capacity to prioritise tasks independently, manage multiple deadlines, and ensure confidentiality in complex and sensitive HR issues.

Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Understanding of the SCHADS Award and industry-specific regulations, with particular experience in the not-for-profit or disability services sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of NDIS principles and their application to workforce development, employee compliance, and service delivery.
  • Experience working within the not-for-profit sector or a strong understanding of its unique challenges and opportunities.
