About Somerville Community Services

Somerville is a for-purpose, community-based organisation that has supported Territorians for over 50 years. We specialise in high-quality disability services that empower people to live the life they choose. As a registered NDIS provider, we deliver individualised support across the Northern Territory, with a focus on respectful, person-centred relationships that promote choice, dignity, and independence.

About the role

This is a rewarding opportunity for a capable and compassionate leader to step into a key role coordinating high-quality Supported Independent Living (SIL) services across multiple houses in the Alice Springs region. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role, with participation in the on-call roster as part of the leadership team.

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll support a team of Team Leaders and Disability Support Workers to deliver person-centred support to people with disability. You’ll oversee day-to-day operations across several locations, ensure services align with NDIS plans and individual goals, and work closely with families, guardians, and other key stakeholders to deliver safe, consistent, and empowering support.

What you’ll be doing

As Independent Living Coordinator, you will:

  • Build strong relationships with participants, families, guardians, and support networks
  • Support participant onboarding and transitions in collaboration with internal teams
  • Oversee rosters and service delivery to ensure alignment with participant goals and NDIS funding
  • Lead and support a team of Team Leaders and Disability Support Workers, including supervision, performance development, and training
  • Monitor service quality, respond to feedback and incidents, and implement continuous improvements
  • Ensure compliance with NDIS Practice Standards, incident reporting, and internal policies
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on budget management, reporting, and operational planning

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you’ll be a confident leader with a strong understanding of person-centred disability services and a practical approach to service coordination, team management, and compliance. You’ll also need to demonstrate:

  • Experience leading disability or community services and managing teams
  • Strong understanding of the NDIS and relevant compliance frameworks
  • Experience in rostering, planning, and budget monitoring
  • Commitment to modelling and embedding active support practices to promote participant independence and engagement
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and drive service improvement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems

You will also need to hold (or have the ability to obtain):

  • NT Driver’s Licence
  • National Criminal History Check
  • NT Ochre Card (Working with Children Clearance)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations
  • Full Australian working rights

Please refer to the full position description for a complete list of essential and desirable criteria.
