We are currently seeking an experienced Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in the Palmerston region.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining direct participant support with responsibility for coordinating staff, supporting consistent practice, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
What you’ll do
- Lead and mentor a team of Disability Support Workers within a Supported Independent Living environment
- Coordinate day-to-day supports, appointments, routines and community access
- Model consistent, person-centred active support that promotes safety, choice and independence
- Ensure individual support plans, care plans and risk management strategies are implemented consistently across the team
- Guide and support staff to implement Behaviour Support Plans, high-intensity supports and complex health routines safely and in accordance with training and clinical guidance
- Maintain clear and professional communication with participants, families, colleagues and relevant external stakeholders
- Oversee documentation, shift notes, and incident reporting to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance
- Monitor staff compliance with training, certifications and organisational procedures, maintaining a strong culture of accountability
- Participate in the shared on-call roster on a rotational basis (approximately one week in every eight), with an additional on-call allowance applicable
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience supporting people with disability in Supported Independent Living or similar environments
- Experience supporting people with complex support needs, including behaviours of concern and/or high-intensity daily supports
- Confidence guiding staff to implement care plans, Behaviour Support Plans and risk management strategies safely and consistently
- Understanding of participant health needs, medication routines and clinical support requirements, and when to escalate concerns
- Confidence leading or guiding staff and promoting consistent practice across a team
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Sound understanding of NDIS Practice Standards and person-centred active support
- Current (or ability to obtain) Ochre Card, Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid and CPR, NT Driver’s Licence and influenza vaccination
- Relevant qualifications in Disability, Community Services or a related field (e.g. Certificate IV or Diploma) are highly regarded
