About the role
As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll provide person-centred support within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment, ensuring safe, consistent, and high-quality support in line with individual plans.
We are currently looking for candidates with demonstrated experience supporting people with complex behaviours of concern, including experience working with individuals with mental health needs and/or involvement with the criminal justice system (e.g. parole, probation, or similar).
The role is based across SIL services in Palmerston and the rural area, and requires flexibility to work across a 24/7 roster. Casual and part-time roles are available.

What you’ll do
This role involves providing consistent, person-centred support to individuals with complex and challenging backgrounds, maintaining strong professional boundaries and a calm, respectful and non-judgemental approach.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to behaviours of concern in line with Behaviour Support Plans and positive behaviour strategies
- Applying sound judgement and risk-aware decision-making to support safe and consistent outcomes
- Working within structured routines and support frameworks to ensure consistency and stability
- Liaising and communicating effectively with participants, families, and the broader support network
- Promoting independence, confidence, and skill-building through daily activities and community engagement
- Following individual support and health plans, including safe medication administration
- Assisting with personal care, mobility, and daily living tasks
- Maintaining accurate records and safeguarding participant wellbeing through confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Contributing to a respectful, collaborative, and values-driven team culture
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated experience supporting people with complex behaviours of concern, including those with mental health needs and/or involvement with the criminal justice system (e.g. parole, probation, or similar)
- Ability to provide active, person-centred support that promotes independence, engagement, and meaningful participation in daily life
- Confidence following Behaviour Support Plans and applying consistent, proactive and reactive strategies
- Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries and a calm, respectful, and non-judgemental approach in challenging situations
- Sound judgement and the ability to make risk-aware decisions to support safe and consistent outcomes
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with participants, families, and the broader support network
- Commitment to participant safety, dignity, and ethical practice in line with the NDIS Code of Conduct
- Strong documentation and system skills, ensuring accurate and timely records

- NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety and You' certificate of completion
