About the role
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven HR leader to join Somerville as Manager, Human Resources.
Reporting to the General Manager, Shared Services, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, HR policy, compliance, and organisational change.
Working closely with senior leaders across the organisation, the role supports consistent, practical, and legally compliant people management practices, while contributing to leadership capability, organisational improvement, and a positive workplace culture.
What you’ll do
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of HR services and ensuring consistent, practical, and legally compliant people practices across the organisation
- Providing expert advice and support on complex employee relations matters including performance management, misconduct, grievances, investigations, workers compensation, and separation processes
- Coaching and supporting leaders to build capability and confidence in managing people-related matters
- Developing and maintaining HR policies, procedures, frameworks, and systems that support best practice and compliance
- Monitoring changes to employment legislation, Enterprise Agreements, Awards, and HR best practice to ensure organisational compliance
- Supporting organisational change initiatives and strategic workforce priorities
- Monitoring HR-related risks, trends, and metrics to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement
- Building positive relationships with unions, regulators, and external stakeholders
- Leading and developing the HR team to foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-focused culture
- Working collaboratively with Somerville’s Workforce function, which oversees recruitment, onboarding, rostering, learning and development, and payroll operations, to support a consistent and aligned organisational approach
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong HR leadership capability, sound judgement, and demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations and people management matters within a fast-paced operational environment.
You will also demonstrate:
- Significant experience in a senior HR leadership role
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation, Enterprise Agreements, Awards, the Fair Work Act, and National Employment Standards (NES)
- Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations and workplace investigations with a strong understanding of procedural fairness and risk management
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and frameworks
- Strong leadership, influencing, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent communication, analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- High levels of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence
- Strong systems and digital capability, including experience with HR systems and Microsoft 365
Highly regarded:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline
- Experience within disability, community services, health, or not-for-profit sectors
- Knowledge of the SCHADS Award and NDIS environment
You will also need to hold, or have the ability to obtain, an NT Working with Children Clearance, satisfactory Criminal History Check, NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, NT Driver Licence and influenza vaccination.
