The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Development Executive: Content and Talent to join our team based in our Perth CBD office.
As the Development Executive: Content and Talent, you will be responsible for managing Screenwest’s designated funding programs and special initiatives in alignment with Screenwest’s strategic objectives. You’ll act as the first point of contact for a broad range of internal and external Screenwest stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional customer service and knowledge on our funding programs.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the WA screen sector, experience in development and production of a wide range of scripted screen projects and be an excellent communicator.
This is a full-time, two-year fixed contract, based in our Perth CBD office.
About the Role
This role supports the Scripted Team in delivering Screenwest’s Project and Practitioner Development Programs, as well as key special initiatives aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives. The position is responsible for the management and administration of assigned funding programs and initiatives, acting as the primary point of contact for a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
The role ensures high-quality stakeholder engagement and provides responsive, effective support in handling and directing enquiries related to funding program processes.

This is a full-time, two-year fixed contract, based in our Perth CBD office.
The role will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Head of Scripted: Content and Talent to design and establish project and practitioner development programs and special initiatives including the writing of relevant guidelines.
- Implementation, management, and oversight of designated Screenwest funding programs and special initiatives.
- Coordinating and assessing funding application and associated materials via designated rounds and panels.
- Making critical creative, budgetary and scheduling recommendations regarding development investment and their funding applications.
- Tracking program and team budgets and managing and coordinating the timeline of program rollouts.
- Providing creative, logistical and career development advice to practitioners where required.
- Providing creative project coverage, advice and project notes to management and stakeholders on scripted projects submitted for assessment to, and/or funded by Screenwest.
- Supporting the Head of Scripted with Board paper preparation, research, statistics, reports and correspondence relating to Screenwest funding programs.
- Monitoring funding programs and special initiative projects and programs (and their contracts) to ensure the delivery of milestones in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Representing Screenwest at relevant forums, markets and industry events and meetings as required promoting Screenwest’s services and the interests of the WA screen industry.
- Responding to members of the screen industry and relevant stakeholders about Screenwest production programs and processes.
- Managing and owning the maintenance of key online grants management tools including SmartyGrants.
The right person will be able to demonstrate / have experience with:
- Good understanding of and established relationships within the international, Australian and Western Australian screen sector.
- Understanding of the financing and distribution methods for film and television industry.
- Experience in the development and production of a wide range of scripted screen projects.
- Highly developed script skills for scripted content and experience working with scripted project development budgets.
- Working knowledge of scripted screen production practices.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Be agile, autonomous, collaborative and communicate well across a dynamic team.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with, build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in film and TV / screen sector, with an understanding of film and TV productions, is desirable.
- Knowledge of the screen industry and WA film funding practices is desirable.

Other requirements:
- A current (within three months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required.
- Out of hours work may be required at times
- Appointment subject to:

- Criminal records screening clearance
