About The Role
In this role you will provide eligible Early Childhood Education and Care services with practical support that will help them plan and build their capacity to provide a quality inclusive environment for children with additional needs who fall within the IPSP priority groups (disability, CALD, refugee, Indigenous children). This includes supporting services through site visits to facilitate ongoing reflection on inclusionary practice, giving practical professional advice and guidance in the identification of inclusion strategies, along with collaborating on the development of Inclusion Improvement Plans (IIP). Additionally, facilitators assist services to successfully include children with additional needs through preparation of applications for funding and linking services to relevant community groups, services and organisations. Overall this role enables services to better include and support children with additional needs to participate in the service and to have the same opportunities as others to belong, develop and succeed.
This is a Part Time Maximum Term Contract (until 30th June 2016) position working Monday and Tuesday, 8 hours per day.
About The Program
Inclusion Support Agencies are part of the National Inclusion and Professional Support Program (IPSP), funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. Inclusion Support Facilitators support educators to provide eligible early education & care services with practical support that will help them to build their capacity to provide a quality inclusive environment for children with additional needs.
About You
The right candidate for this role will have the following:
- University qualification in early childhood education with relevant work experience
- An understanding and commitment to strength based approaches
- Demonstrated understanding of strategies that promote the inclusion of children with additional needs and their families
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate critical reflection and planning for continuous improvement
- Understanding of the Australian Government child care services sectors, relevant legislation, learning frameworks, and available resources and support
- Knowledge of, or ability to gain, deep understanding of the IPSP as an integrated national program and how the elements work together to build capacity of services
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an integrated context, and to facilitate inter and intra organisational relationships
- Demonstrated ability to achieve performance targets and meet key performance indicators.
- Working with Children Check Clearance
- Drivers License and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Demonstrate an awareness of and commitment to child safety and comply with the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998.
