A ‘happy-go-lucky’ 42 year-old guy, who loves music, poetry, photography, sport and swimming is seeking additional male workers to join his friendly, dedicated support team. He has a fabulous sense of humour and enjoys going to local community events, cafes and parks. He also loves dogs, and has a gorgeous dog that he adores (you must love dogs too!)
Currently, the gentleman is looking for new support workers who can also step into a Social Support Role and assist him to enjoy a life rich in purpose. His social support workers will keep him connected to the people he cares about and support him to maintain regular communication and organise catch-ups and social events. They will assist him to enhance his connections with friends, family and his local neighbourhood and community. Additionally, they will look for opportunities to make new connections and will assist his Key Worker with various tasks. He is ideally looking for someone who understands and can model SRV (Social Role Valorisation) or who is willing to complete SRV training and apply the model to the role.
He has a disability, however, experience working with people with disabilities is not necessarily required as full training will be provided. The position does entail personal care, however, training for this is provided and uncomplicated.
SHIFTS (to be split between 2 new workers):
- Monday 11am - 5pm
- Wednesday overnight 5pm - 10am next day
- Thursday 12 - 5/6pm
- Saturday 12 - 5pm
- Saturday overnight 5pm - 9am next day
- Availability and flexibility to cover shifts throughout the week when staff are on leave or sick (both day and overnight support shifts). The team provides support on a 24/7 roster basis.
- Monthly team meetings (held on a weeknight with the potential to Zoom)
PAY RATES:
- Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm shift - $35.00 per hour
- Monday to Friday 8pm - 6am - shift $39.20 per hour
- Saturdays - $49.00 per hour
- Sunday - $63.00 per hour
- Public Holidays - $77 per hour
- Sleepover allowance $65.00 per shift
ROLE:
Support Work:
- Provide support to go out (or stay in) and enjoy music, poetry, photography, sport, invite friends over for dinner and involve himself in the community
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living in his home
- Provide support to communicate using alternative communication techniques (training provided)
Social Support:
- Nurture and maintain existing connections within the community
- Facilitate and create new connections
- Maintain communication with family and friends; providing support to communicate over the phone and online via calls, texts and messages
- Organise catch ups and social events with friends and family
- Maintain contact list of friends and family
- Maintain communication book to inform support staff of upcoming plans
- Support team members to expand social circle and strengthen relationships
- Scan for opportunities to deepen relationships with neighbours, community members and acquaintances
- Model SRV (Social Role Valorisation) in action for the support team
- Support gentleman to share his poetry with neighbours and friends
- Support Key Worker when needed with various tasks (admin, cleaning, restocking household items, following up on items in communication book, paying bills, processing timesheets, agenda items for meetings)
- Update contact details and passwords when needed
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent communicator with outgoing personality
- Highly organised with attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and work in a team
- Understanding of SRV (Social Role Valorisation) or willing to complete training and apply model to role
- Driver's license and a roadworthy vehicle;
- Excellent English skills as alternative communication method is required;
- Reasonable location to the Stafford area;
- Blue card / yellow card / NDIS clearance check; or the ability to obtain one.
- Covid-19 vaccinated preferred
- NDIS Orientation Module Certificate or willing to obtain before start date
