We are seeking a vibrant In-Home, Social and Community Support Worker to join our support team for a fun loving 44-year-old gentleman who is all about music, poetry, photography, and sport. With a cheerful disposition, he loves community events, exploring local cafes, and getting outdoors. Plus, he has a beautiful dog, so dog lovers are especially welcome!

Your role will involve community and in-home support, helping him maintain connections with friends and family, organise social events, and enjoy his hobbies. You’ll assist with personal care and daily living tasks, all while bringing joy and laughter into his life.

He has a disability and some complex support needs in areas such as health and communicating, however, experience working with people with disabilities is not necessarily required as full training is provided. The position does entail personal care, however, training for this is provided. A male is preferred but the gentleman is also open to an excellent female applicant. Ideally, we are looking for someone who understands and can model SRV (Social Role Valorisation) or who is willing to complete SRV training and apply the model to the role.

Shifts:

  • Monday 9am - 5pm
  • Saturday 12pm - 5pm
  • Flexibility and availability to pick up additional shifts when other workers are on leave

** Please note: sleepover paid at an allowance from 10pm-6am**

The Role: 

Support Work:

  • Provide support to go out (or stay in) and enjoy music, poetry, photography, sport, invite friends over for dinner and involve himself in the community.
  • Provide personal care and assistance with daily living in his home.
  • Provide support to communicate using alternative communication techniques (training provided).

Social Support:

  • Nurture and maintain existing connections within the community
  • Facilitate and create new connections
  • Maintain communication with family and friends; providing support to communicate over the phone and online via calls, texts and messages
  • Organise catch ups and social events with friends and family
  • Support gentleman to share his poetry with neighbours and friends

Other duties include:

  • Maintain contact list of friends and family
  • Maintain communication book to inform support staff of upcoming plans
  • Support team members to expand social circle and strengthen relationships
  • Scan for opportunities to deepen relationships with neighbours, community members and acquaintances
  • Model SRV (Social Role Valorisation) in action for the support team
  • Support Key Worker when needed with various tasks (admin, cleaning, restocking household items, following up on items in communication book, paying bills, processing timesheets, agenda items for meetings)
  • Update contact details and passwords when needed

Pay Rates:

  • Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm shift - $38 per hour
  • Monday to Friday 8pm - 6am - shift $42.56 per hour
  • Saturdays - $53.20 per hour
  • Sunday - $68.40 per hour
  • Public Holidays - $83.60 per hour
  • Sleepover allowance $120.00 per shift (10pm-6am)

Requirements:

  • Excellent communicator with outgoing personality
  • Open to using an alternative form of communication
  • Highly organised with attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and work in a team
  • Understanding of SRV (Social Role Valorisation) or willing to complete training and apply model to role
  • Driver's license and a roadworthy vehicle;
  • Excellent English skills as alternative communication method is required;
  • Reasonable location to the Stafford area;
  • Blue card / yellow card / NDIS clearance check; or the ability to obtain one.
  • Covid-19 vaccinated preferred
  • NDIS Orientation Module Certificate or willing to obtain before start date
