Hello, I am a 45-year-old friendly and kind-hearted man with Down Syndrome who lives independently in my own home in Chermside. I have a supportive and caring family that self-direct my support team to enable me to live my independent lifestyle. 

Our family vision is for people with disabilities to have choice and control. To live lifestyles that are valued and similar to those preferred by other citizens. Where the people who love them are closest to them can influence and safeguard a good life. We are looking for a person that understands social roles, the importance of networks and connection, and is an advocate for inclusion.

I am looking for a mature-minded, male support worker to assist me with my daily living. You will need to be friendly, respectful, outgoing, sociable and have a good sense of humour.  The successful applicant will also be community minded, physically active and like meeting new people.  You must have excellent communication skills, be a skilled negotiator and be good role model. You will also have an understanding and working knowledge of the following:

  • Principles of Social Role Valorisation.
  • Restrictive Practice
  • True choice and control, dignity of risk and living a good life.

Key Duties:

  • Assist with Daily Living including personal care
  • Domestic assistance including cooking, cleaning and household duties
  • Social and community engagement
  • Host and Attend Dinner Parties with friends and family

Shifts Available: 

Monday - Friday - 4pm - 8pm

Pay Rates:

  • Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm shift - $36.25 per hour
  • Monday to Friday 8pm - 6am - shift $40.60 per hour
  • Saturdays - $50.75 per hour
  • Sunday - $65.25 per hour
  • Public Holidays - $79.75 per hour

Requirements:

  • Male Support Worker
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
  • Understand complex and challenging behaviours
  • You will also need to be punctual, reliable and well presented
  • NDIS Worker Screening/Yellow Card (or willing to obtain)
  • Current Open Queensland Driver’s Licence and own vehicle
  • Current First Aid and CPR (or willing to obtain)
  • Current Blue Card (working with Children check) (or willing to obtain)
  • Living within reasonable travelling distance
  • Rights to work in Australia
