Female Disability Support Worker

We are seeking active, caring, calm-natured and reliable independent female Support Workers to become part of a close-knit team of support workers. This position is providing in-home and community support to a 40-year-old woman in Cleveland with severe and permanent intellectual disability and Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. Mobility is impaired, so a wheelchair and walking aid is required both inside and outside of the home. 

The individual is a vibrant and active young woman who flourishes socially, loves being part of group activities and socialising with her friends and family. She loves to have fun and laugh with people and enjoys those who fully engage with her.

You will be assisting with:

  • In-home support
  • Meal preparation
  • Home and cleaning duties
  • Managing complex and challenging behaviours
  • 1:1 assistance with activities and programs
  • Transport and community access (in participants own car).
  • Transport to appointments
  • Administration tasks
  • Shopping 

Previous experience with intellectual and physical disabilities would be highly regarded, but not essential. Full training will be provided. Empathy and understanding towards the disabilities of the individual is a key requirement. 

Shifts:

  • 2-3 overnight shifts - 4pm-9am per week
  • 1 weekend day shift - 9am-4pm per month 
  • Flexibility / adaptability to fill in shifts when other workers are on leave 

Pay Rates:

  • Monday to Friday 6 AM to 8 PM: $39.75 per hour
  • Monday to Friday 8 PM to 6 AM: $44.52 per hour
  • Saturday: $55.65 per hour
  • Sunday: $71.55 per hour
  • Public Holidays: $87.45 per hour
  • Sleepover allowance: $90.00 per shift

  • Have valid driver license
  • Have Disability Worker Screening, current senior First Aid & CPR
  • Non-smoker
  • Be reliable and have flexible availability - shifts available will be Wednesday, Friday and some Sunday’s with possible sleepovers. 
  • Be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months
