EVENTS OFFICER

About the Role

The Events Officer will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination and management of a wide range of events, from GPC’s community activities and stakeholder functions to supporting the coordination of employee functions. You’ll work closely with the Corporate and Community Relations team, external vendors, and key stakeholders to plan and execute events aligned with GPC's values and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Planning & Delivery: Coordinate and manage GPC’s community events, including the annual Port to Park fun run, stakeholder events, and community forums across GPC’s operational port locations.
  • Internal & Employee Events: Co-ordinate the planning and support the delivery of internal events and employee functions to foster a positive, engaging culture within the company.
  • Sponsorship & Promotion: Support the development of sponsorship strategies and promotional activities, ensuring events are well-supported and widely recognised.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and external partners to ensure seamless event execution, and manage relationships effectively.
  • Event Evaluation: Gather feedback, analyse event performance, and provide recommendations for improvement to drive continuous event success.

About you

  • Experience & Skills: Proven experience in event management, with a focus on delivering events of all sizes, from conferences to community and stakeholder functions. Strong organisational skills are essential with sponsorship management desirable.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, manage expectations, and build positive relationships both internally and externally.
  • Technical Proficiency: High-level PC skills, including expertise in MS Office suite, event registration platforms, and stakeholder database management.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: A natural leader with a team-oriented mindset who demonstrates GPC’s values, including respect, collaboration, and accountability.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Event Management or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Mandatory C class driver's license.
