The Opportunity:
At Story House Early Learning (SHEL), we are committed to providing our people with a range of opportunities and experiences to support them to develop their careers and capabilities. To support our employee’s growth, we open all our vacancies to internal applicants.
Once the Talent Acquisition team has received your application, they will review your information and assess it against the requirements of the role, which may involve having discussions with your current manager, discussing your information with the hiring manager, booking you in for an interview and/or asking you to participate in a recruitment exercise.
What are your responsibilities?
If you apply for an internal position, you must extend a professional courtesy to your current manager by advising them of your application before we can progress your application.
If you are under any current performance improvement plan and/or disciplinary action, you may find that you are not able to be considered for any internal positions until the conclusion of the process. Selection will be merit based and decisions will be made against selection criteria.
What are SHEL’s responsibilities?
As with all our people-based decisions, our assessment of internal applications for vacant positions is merit based, always considering the candidate that is the ‘best fit’ for the role. We endeavour to ensure that all applications are treated fairly and equitably, with applicants assessed based on the consideration of their skills, qualifications, and ability to meet the key selection criteria. We’ll keep you advised of your application’s progress.
What happens if your application is successful?
Release times from your current position are negotiated between yourself and your outgoing and incoming managers, to ensure a smooth transition into your new role. The Talent Acquisition Team can advise as required.
Commonly a four-week notice period applies for resignation purposes; however, levels of responsibility and task cycles must be taken into consideration for internal transfers and can vary between roles.
What happens if your application isn’t successful?
If an internal applicant is not successful on this occasion, they may not receive an interview, however the relevant Hiring Manager will contact the internal candidate and their current Manager if applicable to the discuss the outcome after notifying the Talent Acquisition Team. Each application is treated on its individual merit. We are dedicated to supporting our educators to progress, and as part of the process we encourage you to ask for feedback and be provided with the opportunity to discuss your strengths and areas for improvement, so that you can work on developing your skills for future applications. You are also welcome to apply for the same or other positions, in the future.
If you cannot see a suitable vacancy in our weekly update but you are a Story House-er who would like to be considered for a new role, still apply below and we will reach out to you to discuss further.
If you have any questions please reach out to the Talent Acquisition Team recruitment@shel.edu.au
We look forward in watching you grow your career piece by piece with Story House Early Learning
*All final applicants for 2IC and Service Manager positions will be asked to consent to a criminal record check. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying for this position. Each application will be considered on its merits.
