We are looking for a new Team Leader to work across 2 teams in the inner city south of Brisbane who provide support for a gentleman and a lady. The Team Leader will collaborate with the individuals being supported, their families, their wider circle of friends and their informal supports. They will work closely with each team's Key Worker and support workers to develop the team's skills and buid a culture of trust, transparency and reflective practice centred on each individual's goals. In addition to planning, scheduling and various managment and coordination duties the Team Leader will provide the individuals with direct support when required.
Team Leader Responsibilities:
- Actively support each individual's vision for their home’s, relationships, and community connections.
- Oversee flexible and responsive provision of supports
- Think creatively about how the team can actively provide support and implement new ideas
- Establish regular roster arrangements with and manage any changes in routine.
- Check, authorize and submit support staff timesheets.
- Ensure all annual leave is covered across the team.
- Manage requests for time off and ensure that there is adequate coverage.
- Report to key stakeholders within agreed arrangements and timeframes.
- Coordinate and recommend team training and development.
- Communicate regularly with the Participant's family
- Work closely with, manage and supervise Key Workers
- Oversee and assist with the management of weekly, monthly, and yearly calendars and diaries for each individual.
- Support the Key worker to plan and manage each individuals' week and engage in their relationships and community.
- Actively support and collaborate to train the team to take ownership and responsibilities with tasks.
- Support and supervise the Key workers to maintain relationships with their social networks.
- Build reciprocal relationships with the support teams, families and social networks.
- Provide direct support and relieve support shifts when required.
- Coordinate monthly support team forums and minutes
- Co-ordinate and participate in interviewing new support staff.
- Support the induction and orientation of all new team members
- Complete the role of support worker on shift when required.
Team Leader Profile:
- Strong connections within the local community or a demonstrated willingness to build relationships alongside individuals with disabilities
- A commitment to long-term relationships with individuals seeking support and their families
- High-level interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to connect with people of all communication abilities
- Demonstrated integrity, initiative, and alignment with Social Role Valorisation principles
- Ability to work both independently as well as to inspire, motivate, coach and supervise a team of support workers
- Adept at managing conflict and staff performance
- Ability to problem solve, highly adaptable, flexible and able to think creatively
- Highly organised with efficient planning and scheduling skills
Shifts / Hours:
- Direct Support Shifts - generally 9am - 5pm & 5pm - 9am Sleepovers
- Variable / flexible shifts throughout the week for indirect support / Team Leader duties
Starting Pay Rates:
- Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm shift - $42.50 per hour
- Monday to Friday 8pm - 6am shift - $47.60 per hour
- Saturday - $59.50 per hour
- Sunday - $76.50 per hour
- Public Holidays - $93.50 per hour
- Sleepover allowance $80.00 per shift
*Higher pay rates negotiable for applicants with commensurate skills, qualifications and level of experience*
Essential Requirements:
- +2 years leadership experience managing and coordinating teams
- +2 years disability support work experience
- Broad experience or interest in communities/disabilities sector
- Solid working knowledge or willingness to learn of Australian statutory and regulatory compliance requirements in the disability sector
- Knowledge of SRV (Social Role Valorisation) is highly desirable
- Open Driver’s license and own vehicle with insurance
- NDIS Worker Screening (or willing to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Live within reasonable travelling distance
- Current First Aid Certificate & CPR
- Rights to work in Australia
