Traffic Engineer

Sutherland Council is seeking a Traffic Engineer to assist in the safe, efficient and accessible transport of people and goods across the integrated networks in Sutherland Shire ensuring that the needs of the community are met. We are looking for someone who can use their critical thinking skills to research, investigate and analyse solutions or strategies in response to traffic or land use issues within relevant standards. 

About the role:

This role is responsible for: 

  • Preparation of draft traffic and transport plans, studies and strategies, in line with Council and community requirements. 
  • Providing assessment input and technical advice on traffic and transport aspects of non-complex DAs, DCPs, LEPs and Planning Proposals. 
  • Assisting in preparing draft grant applications for external funding of traffic and transport related works, studies and services.
  • Planning, assessing and designing bus stops, active transport facilities, car parking, roads and traffic management facilities.
  • Liaising with other traffic and transport related authorities in respect to policies, projects and statutory provisions including TfNSW and Police.

 About you:

The successful candidate will: 

  • Have tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or transport/urban planning
  • Have experience in traffic engineering and/or transport planning and operations 
  • Enjoy working collaboratively amongst a diverse team of subject matter experts.

  • Package:  $96,668 - $105,364 gross p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation
  • Hours of work: Temporary Full Time, 35 hours per week with the option of 19 day month flexitime option. Opportunity Expected to be available for up to 12 months.
