Position Overview
The Senior Development Planner plays a crucial role within the Planning and Growth Division, focusing on the assessment of development proposals and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
You will be responsible for reviewing and assessing a wide range of development applications, providing technical guidance, and mentoring junior team members. Your expertise will contribute to the preparation and review of key planning policies and strategies, ensuring that they align with the Council’s objectives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of relevant qualifications, experience, and personal attributes that align with our core values.
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban & Regional Planning, or a related field is essential
- Demonstrated experience in assessing complex development applications.
- Strong knowledge of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
- Proven project management skills and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
- Experience in dealing with matters in the Land and Environment Court.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to mentor and develop less experienced staff.

- Package: $104,000.00 - $122,500.00 gross p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation. Salary will be determined based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
- Hours of work: Temporary Full-Time - opportunity expected to be available up to January 2026. 35 hours per week with option of 19-day month flexitime arrangement.
