Your Role as an Accountant Cadet

As an Accountant Cadet, you will play a pivotal role in our Financial Services Division. You will engage in a wide variety of quality services, gaining a comprehensive understanding of financial management operations and processes. Your contributions will not only support our business objectives but also foster a constructive and positive working environment aligned with our Council’s values. In this role, you will actively seek opportunities for personal and professional growth while contributing to the continuous improvement of our financial operations. You will apply your knowledge and skills to ensure compliance with legislative and accounting standards, maintain data integrity, and provide high-quality customer service.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking enthusiastic candidates who are passionate about pursuing a career in accounting and are eager to learn and grow within our organisation.
  • Currently in your penultimate or final year of study, pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or a similar degree.
  • A demonstrated commitment to completing tertiary qualifications and achieving full professional accreditation in professional accounting.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • A customer-centric approach with experience in providing outstanding customer service.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgement.

  • Hours of work: Up to 2 years temporary full time, 35 hours per week with option of 19-day flexitime
