About The Role

Our Lawyer plays a crucial role in supporting Senior Lawyers across various legal practise areas, including planning, local court jurisdiction, and general litigation. You will be responsible for assisting in diverse legal matters while upholding the Council’s standards and values. This role will provide valuable experience across a variety of Council's matters.

This role requires a proactive approach to legal challenges and a commitment to improving services for our community.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong legal knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to ethical practises.

  • Admitted to practise law in New South Wales.
  • A current Driver's Licence.
  • Relevant work experience in one or more of the following areas of law: Planning & Local Government, Environmental, Criminal, Litigation.
  • Proficient in drafting court documents, collating evidence, and managing legal files.
  • Ability to undertake legal research and effectively communicate findings.
  • Experience in liaising with clients, opposing parties, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to engage in mentorship.
  • Experience in government legal practise is desirable.

  • Package: $96,668 - $108,266 gross p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation.
  • Hours of work: Permanent Full-Time 35 hours per week with option of 19-day month with flex-time arrangement.
