About The Role
The Cyber Security Cadet will support our Cyber Security team in the implementation and ongoing operation of our cyber security initiatives. This role is designed for individuals in their penultimate or final year of study in Information Technology and Cyber Security, seeking to develop their skills and gain hands-on experience.
In collaboration with the Cyber Security and Risk Lead, you will assist in managing the technical and governance aspects of our IT systems and participate in activities related to the Information Security Management System (ISMS). This role offers a unique opportunity to learn about protecting information assets while contributing to the council’s mission.
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of IT and cyber security concepts, alongside a desire to learn and grow within the field.
- Currently enrolled in a tertiary qualification relevant to Information Technology and Cyber Security.
- Familiarity with Governance, Risk and Compliance frameworks and cyber security best practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IT security infrastructure, including firewalls and secure web gateways.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Windows Desktop OS, and networking fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- High-level communication skills including the ability to write and maintain documentation, policies, procedures and instructions.
Additionally, candidates who have commenced certification in cyber security or have vendor accreditation will be viewed favourably. A current Class C Driver's Licence is essential.

- Package: $59,723 - $66,885 gross p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Up to 2 years full time temporary contract. 35 hours per week with option of 19-day flexitime arrangement
