About Us

At Sutherland Shire Council Leisure Centres, we are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for our community. Our facilities are designed to cater to a diverse range of activities and visitors, and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Pool Lifeguards in either a permanent or temporary capacity.

Position Overview

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in promoting and ensuring public safety across our multiple leisure centres including the Sutherland Leisure Centre, Caringbah Leisure Centre, Engadine Leisure Centre, and Como Pool. You will respond to emergencies, supervise activities, and maintain hygiene standards while providing excellent customer service.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all pool visitors.

  • Ensure safety regulations are met.
  • Respond to emergency situations remaining calm and professional.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the pool facilities.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic, with a strong focus on achieving safety and service excellence.

If you hold the following credentials and qualities, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Pool Lifeguard Licence (RLSS).

  • Pool Operations Certificate, desirable but not mandatory.

  • First Aid Certificate and CPR.

  • Valid NSW Working With Children Check.

  • Understanding of hygiene practices and general facility upkeep.

  • A positive attitude and the ability to connect with the public.

  • Interview date: Interviews will be facilitated within two weeks of closing.

  • Package: $58,545 - $61,927 (full time equivalent) gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.

  • Hours of work: Both Temporary Seasonal and Permanent part time position available from 6 hours - 16 hours per week. Temporary opportunities expected to be from September 2025 - April 2026. Opportunity for additional flex hours may arise to assist operational coverage. Candidates must be available as rostered over a 7-day spread at our Como Pool and across our various Leisure Centres, including Sutherland, Caringbah and Engadine Centre locations.

Suitable candidates are subject to pre-employment screening which includes Reference Checks, Work Rights Verification, Identity and Functional/Medical History Checks (including Covid-19 Vaccination), and may also include a Criminal History, Qualification and Working with Children Check.
