We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Library Assistant – Home Library to help deliver our valued Home Library Service. You will provide personalised library support to aged care facilities and individuals in their homes across the Sutherland Shire who are housebound due to age, illness, disability, or caring responsibilities.
As part of our Arts and Libraries team, you’ll help foster lifelong learning and promote access to reading, literacy and technology for some of our most isolated residents.
What You’ll Be Doing

Deliver library materials and resources to aged care facilities and individual customers at home.

Assist customers, carers and facility staff with requests, including use of library technologies.

Support the maintenance of collections, including shelving, weeding and updating digital resources.

Assist with promotional activities and outreach visits under the guidance of the Senior Library Officer.

Provide friendly and effective customer service, always upholding dignity, safety and accessibility.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Essential:
- A willingness to work towards (or completion of) a Library & Information qualification or equivalent
- Current Drivers Licence (Class C)
- Working with Children Check number
- Provide First Aid or willingness to complete within 3 months of employment
- A strong commitment to inclusive customer service, especially for seniors and people with disabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills

- Package: $61,515 - $65,203 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Full Time, 35 hours per week, with the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system. Applicants must be available work a range of shifts across a 7 day spread, between the hours of 8:00am -9:00pm to support the operational requirements of the libraries.
