Are you passionate about nourishing young minds and bodies? Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our Early Education Centre team. This is more than just a kitchen role - it’s an opportunity to shape healthy habits and support the wellbeing of children aged 0–5 through nutritious and thoughtfully prepared meals.
About the Role
As our Early Education Centre Cook, you’ll be responsible for planning and preparing a variety of balanced, delicious meals that meet the dietary, cultural and developmental needs of our children. Your menus will follow Australian Dietary Guidelines, support food safety and hygiene standards and contribute to a welcoming, nurturing environment at mealtimes.
What You’ll Be Doing

Preparing fresh, healthy meals and snacks for children aged 0–5

Designing seasonal menus that reflect nutritional guidelines and diverse cultural needs

Catering to individual dietary requirements, including allergies and restrictions

Ensuring all food handling, hygiene and kitchen safety practices are met

Collaborating with educators and families to support positive mealtime routines
About You
You’ll be a proactive and organised team player who enjoys working with children and has a genuine interest in their health and wellbeing. You bring creativity to the kitchen and can meet the daily demands of a busy childcare environment.
Essential:

Working With Children Check number

Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to complete on appointment)
Desirable:

Experience cooking in a childcare or hospitality setting

Recognised basic nutrition training

First Aid Certificate

Knowledge of anaphylaxis and allergy-safe food handling

- Hourly Rate: $29.62 - $31.33 gross per hour plus 12% superannuation.
- Package: $58,454 - $61,927 (FTE) gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: 18 hours per week, working days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (6 hours per day). Flexibility to pick up additional shifts may be available, depending on operational needs.
