About the Role
Sutherland Shire Council is seeking Early Education Centre Cooks to join our Early Education & Child Protection team on a casual basis. In this role, you’ll play a vital role in planning and preparing nutritious, balanced meals and snacks for children aged 0–5 years. You’ll work closely with the Early Childhood Director to create seasonal menus that meet Australian Dietary Guidelines, accommodate individual dietary needs, allergies and cultural preferences — all within budget. Maintaining food safety standards and keeping the kitchen clean, safe and organised will be part of your daily routine.
Your role will also support the children’s learning environment by promoting positive mealtime experiences and encouraging independence during meals. As a valued team member, you’ll build strong relationships with children, families and colleagues while contributing to nutrition education and ongoing centre improvements.
What You’ll Do
- Plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children aged 0-5 years.
- Support positive and relaxed mealtime experiences that encourage children's independence.
- Communicate effectively with educators, families and team members about meals and nutrition.
- Ensure all food preparation and storage meets Australian Dietary Guidelines and food safety standards.
What You’ll Bring
- NSW Working with Children Check.
- Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to complete on appointment.
- Experience preparing nutritious meals for young children, ideally in childcare or similar settings.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage budgets and stock supplies.

- Package: $37 - $39 gross per hour plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Casual hours. Applicants must be able to work a range of shifts from 6am - 7pm.
