About The Role
As a Safety Business Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving safety compliance and cultivating a positive safety culture. You’ll partner with internal stakeholders to deliver expert advice on safety and supplementing injury management, while leading the implementation and maintaining of our Work Health and Safety Management System.
This role requires someone who can educate, influence, and negotiate effectively—especially with council employees—ensuring safety practices are understood, embraced, and embedded across the organisation.
You’ll work closely with the Executive, Senior Managers, and operational teams to:
- Promote safety best practices and continuous improvement.
- Support the development of our Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Champion psychological and physical safety in the workplace.
Who We're Looking For
We’re seeking a safety professional who not only meets the technical requirements but also brings a strong cultural fit and personal traits that support collaboration, education, and influence.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a WHS discipline or equivalent experience.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- Extensive experience in WHS across complex environments.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and its practical application.
- Skilled in risk assessment, system auditing, and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
In addition, desirable qualifications include a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, a Diploma in Work Health and Safety, and experience with WHS management systems such as Figtree.

- Package: From $107,476 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. You will have the option of a 19-day month through Council’s flex system.
