This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience whilst completing a Certificate III in Nursery Operations over four years.

About Sutherland Shire Council
Sutherland Shire Council is offering a four-year apprenticeship for someone who wants to build a career in nursery work. You’ll help grow and care for plants while studying for a Certificate III in Nursery Operations.

Position Overview
This role is a chance to work on land that holds deep meaning. You’ll help care for plants and spaces that connect people to Country, culture, and community. Your knowledge and connection to Country are valued and respected.
You will be responsible for completing retail, plant production, and nursery maintenance duties while adhering to safety guidelines and contributing to customer service.
As part of this apprenticeship, candidates will attend an allocated Registered Training Organisation and complete all required learning components to achieve the National Training Register - AHC31124 Certificate III in Nursery Operations.
Candidate Profile
- Satisfactory completion of Year 10.
- Able to do outdoor work and lift things safely.
- Willing to learn and work with tools and equipment.
- It’s helpful if you have a driver’s licence (but not required).
This apprenticeship is exclusively open to individuals of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. You will be required to meet the following criteria:
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
- is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

- Package: $43,024.80 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.

- Hours of work: Temporary Full Time, 38 hours per week with a 9-day fortnight. 4-year apprenticeship opportunity.
