About The Role

The Geospatial Lead plays a crucial role in managing and developing the spatial data infrastructure that supports various council operations, including planning and service delivery. This position involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create scalable and interoperable geospatial solutions that drive operational efficiency and improve public transparency.

As a leader, you will guide the geospatial team, setting clear priorities and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives to foster professional growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive spatial architecture and geospatial data models.
  • Integrate GIS platforms with core systems to enhance operational workflows.
  • Establish and enforce spatial data governance and standards in compliance with legislation.
  • Provide strategic advice on spatial analytics to support policy development.
  • Lead the development of geospatial roadmaps that align with council priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver tools that improve community outcomes.
  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies to support smart city initiatives.
  • Ensure spatial data quality, accessibility, and interoperability across departments.
  • Support open data initiatives to improve public access to spatial information.
  • Provide expert advice on house numbering and road naming in line with relevant policies.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in geospatial technologies and data management, along with proven leadership capabilities. You should be adept at fostering a collaborative team environment while driving innovation in geospatial solutions.

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong experience in spatial architecture or GIS system design.
  • Advanced skills with the Esri Enterprise platform, specifically managing ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Experience in local government operations and service delivery.
  • Strong understanding of land and property principles and relevant legislation.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and driving project success.
  • Expertise in integrating GIS with enterprise systems and managing spatial databases.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions and smart city technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with spatial scripting and automation tools.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Package: From $117,242 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
  • Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. You will have the option of a 19-day month through Council’s flex system.
