Position Overview

This four-year apprenticeship provides comprehensive training within our Civil Works and Presentation team. You will assist in a wide range of tasks, including planned and reactive maintenance, restoration, and construction of civil assets such as roads, footpaths, and stormwater infrastructure.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Working with concrete and asphalt to construct and repair surfaces.
  • Performing excavation and concrete cutting tasks.
  • Operating limited plant and equipment under supervision.
  • Assisting with traffic management and basic surveying activities.

You will receive structured, hands-on training while completing your Certificate III in Civil Construction. Attendance at the allocated Registered Training Organisation and successful completion of all learning components is essential to your progress.

  • Adhere to Council’s Code of Conduct, policies, and all relevant legislation at all times.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and promptly report any hazards or risks.
  • Complete all mandatory training within the required timeframes.
  • Demonstrate Council’s values in every interaction with colleagues and the community.
  • Participate in performance reviews and take accountability for your development.
  • Use Council resources responsibly and in a sustainable manner.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, committed to building a career in civil construction, and willing to work hard to achieve their goals.

Essential:

  • Completion of Year 10 Record of School Achievement.
  • Ability to meet manual handling and physical requirements of the role.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and use trade-related equipment.
  • A genuine interest in civil construction and infrastructure projects.

Desirable:

  • Current Class C driver’s licence.
