About The Role
The Insurance Specialist will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to implement and manage the Council’s Insurance Risk Management Framework. This includes overseeing the management of under deductible insurance claims and ensuring they align with our Customer Experience Charter. The role demands high-level expertise within a local government context, aimed at enhancing our insurance risk culture and minimising liability exposure.
As an Insurance Specialist, you will collaborate with Council’s Executive and Senior Managers to identify general insurance risk challenges and develop proactive solutions. Your efforts will directly contribute to setting insurance risk management targets, managing risks, and ensuring effective claim resolution.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of relevant qualifications and practical experience in insurance risk management. You will be a proactive leader capable of fostering strong relationships and driving change within the organisation.
- Tertiary qualifications in business administration, finance, insurance, or a related field.
- Experience in insurance risk management.
- Strong understanding of the Civil Liability Act 2002 within a local government context.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and providing effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

- Package: $99,569 - $105,544 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Permanent Full-Time. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
