Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) to join our Early Education & Child Protection Team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-quality, inclusive and environmentally responsible educational programs that support children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
As an Early Childhood Teacher, you will play a key leadership role within the service, working closely with the Service Director (Nominated Supervisor) to ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework while fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Lead the implementation of a high-quality play-based educational program aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
- Role model contemporary pedagogical practices and mentor educators
- Undertake Responsible Person and Second-in-Charge (2IC) duties as required
- Support compliance with the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Law & Regulations, and National Quality Standard (NQS)
- Foster inclusive, child-focused learning environments
- Implement intentional teaching and reflective practice
- Build respectful, collaborative partnerships with families and the community
- Support behaviour guidance strategies and inclusion programs
- Contribute to Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) development and implementation
- Champion sustainable and environmentally responsible practices
About You
You are a dedicated and knowledgeable Early Childhood professional who:
- Holds a completed Bachelor of Teaching Early Childhood
- Maintains current: NSW Working With Children Check, First Aid & CPR qualification, Child Protection Training (CHCPRT001 or equivalent), NESA Teacher Accreditation (provisional or proficient)
- Has strong leadership, mentoring and communication skills
- Is confident in planning, documenting and evaluating children’s learning
- Demonstrates commitment to inclusive practice and child protection
- Values collaboration, integrity and continuous improvement
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of:
- National Quality Framework (NQF)
- Education and Care National Law and Regulations
- National Quality Standard (NQS)
- Early Years Learning Framework (Belonging, Being & Becoming)
Experience working with children aged Birth–6 years and leading educator teams will be highly regarded.

- Package: $93,854 - $99,489 gross p.a. (pro-rata for part-time position) plus 12% superannuation. The Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Allowance will be applied to these roles in addition with Federal Government guidelines.
- Hours of work: Multiple positions available. Full Time. Working 35 hours per week, and Part-Time Position working Thursday and Friday. Applicants must be available to work a range of shifts, between the hours of 6:00am - 7:00pm to support the operational requirements of the centres.
