About The Role
The Development Planner plays a vital role in the assessment of development applications, ensuring that proposals align with statutory requirements and the strategic objectives of Sutherland Shire. This position involves providing quality advice to planning managers, producing comprehensive reports for planning panels, and managing development applications throughout their lifecycle.
The successful candidate will coordinate referrals, deliver exceptional customer service, and actively contribute to the development assessment unit, ensuring efficient operations and responsive service delivery.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a passion for urban planning and community engagement. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, enabling them to effectively manage development applications and liaise with various stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or a related field.
- Proven experience in assessing development applications within a local government context.
- Familiarity with the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
- Strong project management skills with a focus on stakeholder coordination and customer service.
- Ability to prepare clear, compliant reports for various audiences.
Desirable qualifications include experience presenting reports to councils and external panels, as well as negotiation or mediation training.

- Package: From $88,129 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
