Position Overview

As a Tree Management Officer – Proactive Inspections, you will play a critical role in Council’s urban forestry program by undertaking systematic inspections and assessments of tree assets across the Shire. Your work will ensure trees are managed safely, responsibly and in line with arboriculture best practice and Council’s strategic frameworks.

You will focus on identifying risks, monitoring tree health and condition, and contributing to proactive inspection programs that balance public safety with canopy preservation. Working closely with the Tree Canopy Management team, you will support the delivery of Council’s Delivery Program and Operational Plans while embracing continuous improvement and innovation.

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the Shire’s environment, streetscapes and community wellbeing.

Who We’re Looking For

You are a passionate and knowledgeable arboriculture professional who values sustainability, safety and community outcomes. You bring strong technical skills alongside the ability to build positive working relationships and communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders.
 
To be successful you will have
    • A Diploma of Arboriculture (AQF Level 5) and a Class C Driver’s Licence
    • Demonstrated experience undertaking tree assessments, inspections and risk management
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, solutions‑focused approach
    • Experience developing proactive inspection programs and preparing clear, accurate technical reports
    • A commitment to best‑practice arboriculture, public safety and continuous improvement

  • Package: From $96,671 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
  • Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
