At Sutherland Shire Council we’re committed to creating a connected, sustainable and thriving community. We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to join our Infrastructure Directorate as Coordinator Asset Data & Systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the systems, data and governance that underpin the management of Council’s critical infrastructure assets across transport, open space, stormwater and buildings.
About the Role
As Coordinator Asset Data & Systems, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of Council’s asset data, asset systems and information governance functions. You will lead a specialist team responsible for ensuring Council maintains accurate, reliable, and accessible asset information to support evidence-based decision making and long-term infrastructure planning.
You’ll play a key role in advancing Council’s asset management maturity through continuous improvement initiatives, system optimisation and best-practice data governance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring the Asset Data & Systems team
- Overseeing asset data collection, validation, maintenance and reporting programs
- Managing the integrity of Council’s asset register, including valuations, condition data, capitalisation and lifecycle information
- Administering and improving Council’s Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems and spatial asset databases
- Supporting asset planning and operational decision-making through high-quality data insights and reporting
- Maintaining document management and collaboration platforms for asset-related information
- Providing expert technical advice to internal stakeholders, management and external partners
- Driving initiatives that improve asset management capability, governance and business processes
About You
You are a collaborative and technically capable leader with extensive experience in asset management, asset systems and infrastructure data governance. You bring a strong customer focus, strategic mindset and the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across a complex organisation.
You will also demonstrate:
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams
- Strong experience working with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems and GIS/spatial asset data
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience in asset accounting principles, valuations, lifecycle planning, and reporting
- Strong understanding of infrastructure and project delivery environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- A commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and service excellence
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualifications in a related discipline such as Engineering, Asset Management, Project Management, Accounting, Construction, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience in asset management with a focus on asset data and systems
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of the NSW Local Government Act 1993
- Industry-recognised Asset Management credentials
- Local government procurement experience
- Experience leading organisational change initiatives
- Contract administration experience

- Package: $117,242 - $129,637 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation.
- Hours of work: Full Time, working 35 hours per week. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
