Team Leader - Development Advisory

  • Lead and inspire a team of Assessment and Lodgement Officers, delivering Council’s flagship development advisory service and promoting a customer-centric approach to planning advice.
  • Ensure the effective lodgement of high-quality, assessment-ready development applications through quality assurance processes.
  • Establish protocols and foster an environment of continuous improvement and exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and internal policies & KPIs in development assessments.
  • Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to promote collaboration and understanding

About The Role

The Team Leader - Development Advisory will play a pivotal role in supervising a team of assessment and lodgement officers responsible for ensuring the efficient lodgement of 'assessment ready' applications along with providing timely and accurate pre-lodgement advice on development proposals. This position will build protocols and will mentor staff to deliver high-quality assessments and exceptional customer service, while also overseeing the functioning of the Development Assessment Division.

The successful candidate will ensure timely and accurate assessments of pre-lodgement applications, driving high standards of customer service and compliance with Council's Development Services Customer Charter.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in development assessment, particularly within the local government context. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities and a commitment to professional development.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in development assessment in NSW local government.
  • Proven management experience in fast-paced environments.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

The candidate should demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to foster effective relationships with diverse stakeholders. Experience in negotiation and mediation is also desirable.

  • Package: $117,242-$129,637 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation. In addition an award vehicle allowance of $10,780 gross p.a will be paid.   
  • Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
