About The Role
The Pool Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring safety in the community by conducting swimming pool barrier inspections, managing customer requests, and providing educational resources to promote public awareness of pool safety.
The successful candidate will actively participate in ensuring compliance with the Swimming Pool Act and Australian Standards for swimming pool barrier safety within the Sutherland Shire.
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise in swimming pool barrier compliance and a passion for community safety. You will need to demonstrate strong communication and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Tertiary qualifications in building surveying, planning, building, engineering, qualifications in swimming pool barrier compliance or a related discipline and or demonstrated experience in swimming pool barrier compliance.
- Experience in swimming pool barrier inspections and compliance reporting.
- Experience in dispute resolution.
- Experience in preparing detailed compliance reports.

- Package: $97,609 - $106,395 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation. In addition an award vehicle allowance of $10,780 gross p.a. will be paid.
- Hours of work: Temporary Full-Time. Working 35 hours per week. You will have the option of a 19 day month with Council's ADO system (Accrued Day Off). Position expected to be available up to 26 December 2027.
