About the Opportunity

Currently, SSI is hiring a Junior Accounting Assistant to join our team in Victoria, BC for a full time 14-month maternity leave position with the potential to lead to a permanent position.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will perform a variety of accounting functions, including:

  • Process and distribute incoming mail/courier packages
  • Responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable processing
  • Prepare daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Maintain and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts
  • Support the preparation of year-end working papers and documentation

Requirements:

  • Completed a 2 year accounting diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting related experience
  • Demonstrated high level of accuracy and efficiency
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of accounting principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting software applications
  • Competent with the use of MS Office
  • Competent with the specific use of Excel in an accounting environment
  • Experience with Sage an asset
