Finance Officer - Accounts Payable

We are currently inviting applications for the role of:

Finance Officer – Accounts Payable

The Finance Officer’s key focus is to ensure the management and processing of all purchase orders, invoices and payments for all entities of both schools.  While the role has a substantive focus on accounts payable, the environment and the finance team are highly dynamic and over time it is expected the Finance Officer will gain a broad knowledge across the end of month duties and enjoy opportunities to further develop their skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full function accounts payable including maintaining vendor master data, supplier account reconciliations and managing the accounts payable email inboxes
  • Reconciliation of the monthly credit card transactions and upload to the system
  • Reconciliation of allocated general ledger accounts in accordance with end of month deadlines
  • Assisting with high volume receipting, invoicing and bank reconciliations
  • Coordinating the petty cash function, including reconciliation and replenishment and as required assist staff with queries regarding expenditure recorded against their budget
  • Adopting a proactive approach to resolving variances or discrepancies in the accounting system and referring them to the Finance Manager as appropriate
  • Contributing to a culture of ensuring best practice and continual improvement across the finance department.

About You

The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated knowledge of accounts payable practices and procedures within a complex medium sized business operation and you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • A strong customer focus with a willingness to support and assist others as required
  • Previous experience with high volume data processing preferred
  • The ability to positively contribute to a team of finance professionals
  • Advanced Excel skills and demonstrated experience in using a range of finance computer packages with the ability to learn new systems
  • Have the ability to demonstrate initiative, along with the ability to maintain systems and procedures to meet strict deadlines and commitments

This is a full-time role and will be predominately based at St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School in Ascot with the need to go to St Aidan’s Anglican Girls School in Corinda on occasion.
