Position: Tenancy and Property Allocations Coordinator

VincentCare Victoria is excited to offer an opportunity for a Tenancy and Property Allocations Coordinator to join our committed team. This role is essential in delivering impactful housing services to individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness, offering a vital stepping stone toward sustainable living. As the Allocations Coordinator, you will play a key role in managing property allocations within our growing housing portfolio, specifically the new Footscray Community Housing facility, and supporting our renters through the move-in and early tenancy stages.

Position Summary

This position is designed for a motivated, organized, and compassionate individual who can navigate the complexities of housing allocation while providing an empathetic, social-landlord approach. You will be responsible for coordinating the matching, screening, and placement of tenants in properties, while ensuring a smooth transition and positive initial experience in their new homes. By working collaboratively with internal teams and external support agencies, you will help ensure each renter's unique needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination of Housing Allocation and Support

  • Coordinate and manage the allocation of housing at the Footscray Community Housing site.
  • Conduct client interviews and match eligible renters to appropriate housing.
  • Provide direct support for renters through the move-in process, building orientation, and early-stage tenancy.
  • Coordinate initial home visits and offer assistance in support services, facilitating a holistic renter experience.
  • Maintain timely, accurate records and collaborate with team members, the Building Manager, and other stakeholders.

Team Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively with the Tenancy and Property team to maintain a supportive, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and organizational events.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development to stay current with compliance standards, including work health and safety, equal opportunity, and homelessness policies.

Compliance & Best Practices

  • Ensure all practices align with VincentCare's values, codes of conduct, and legislative standards.
  • Adhere to VincentCare’s risk management, OH&S, and Rainbow Tick accreditation requirements.
  • Engage in regular compliance reviews to maintain service quality and safety for renters and staff.

 

Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Community Services or relevant field, or extensive experience in housing allocations.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in tenancy and property management, particularly with complex housing allocations.
  • Strong understanding of social housing and the challenges facing individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Familiarity with the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 and VCAT processes (advantageous).
  • Proficiency with data management, particularly within Microsoft Office, and experience with Chintaro database (an advantage).
