Position Summary:
The Peer Settlement Worker role works part-time at VincentCare’s Glenroy Hub. The role works in collaboration with the J2SI Team to support people who have experience homelessness to achieve stable housing, independence, and social inclusion through an innovative housing-first approach.
The successful candidate will have lived experience resettling in a home and the community after experiencing homelessness. The position will work with J2SI clients to help transition from homelessness into stable housing by providing peer support and facilitating community connections.
Your role will include tasks such as:
- Providing peer support and connection to J2SI clients.
- Driving to meet J2SI clients in their home or their local community.
- Assisting clients to settle into housing.
- Supporting participants in accessing employment, volunteering, training, and other community opportunities.
- Building relationships with the J2SI team.
What We Are Looking For:
- A lived experience of resettling in a home after experiencing homelessness
- Experience with client participation, previous peer work, volunteering or training.
- Ability to build relationships and adapt support to the individual client needs.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to training and upskilling
- Understanding and application of the principles of confidentiality and privacy.
- IT and administration skills including Microsoft products.
- Ability to manage time and problem solve
- Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff, and other stakeholders.
